About back up and sync

Dorsum upwardly and sync is a storage service that automatically saves your photos and videos to your Google Account. These photos and videos will be accessible from any device where you are logged into your account.

Benefits

What you demand to back upwardly photos & videos

  • Good internet connection.
  • File sizes that tin can be backed upwardly.  Your files won't be backed up if they are:
    • Photos larger than 200 MB or 150 MP
    • Videos larger than 10 GB.
    • Items smaller than 256 x 256.
  • File types that tin be backed up.
    • Photos: .jpg, .heic, .png, .webp, .gif, and some RAW files.
    • Live photos can be backed up if you use the Google Photos app on your iPhone or iPad.
    • Videos: .mpg, .mod, .mmv, .tod, .wmv, .asf, .avi, .divx, .mov, .m4v, .3gp, .3g2, .mp4, .m2t, .m2ts, .mts, and .mkv files.

If you try to back up a file blazon non listed here, it may non work with Google Photos.

Important: Your Google Account storage is shared across multiple products similar Google Photos, Google Drive, and Gmail. If you lot have used all of your storage, yous won't exist able to support new files.

There are 2 ways to support your phone, camera, or storage card from your reckoner:

  1. Install Backup and Sync.
  2. Upload photos from your browser.

Set up Google Drive for desktop

  1. On your calculator, download and install Google Drive for Desktop.
  2. Sign in to your Google Account.
  3. Select the folders or pictures you lot desire to back up and thenDorsum upwards to Google Photos.
  4. Select Done and thenSave.

Important:

  • If you remove a photograph or video from your computer that yous previously backed up to Google Photos, it stays in Google Photos.
  • If you lot remove a photo or video from Google Photos, it isn't removed from Google Drive or your reckoner.
  • Uploads tin be slower and use more than storage if you back upwardly to both Google Photos and Google Drive. Unless y'all need a second copy in Drive, we recommend you support photos and videos to Google Photos.

If y'all already have Backup and Sync for Drive

Backup and Sync is now Google Drive for desktop.

If you already take Backup and Sync installed, you'll be migrated to Google Drive for desktop.

To upgrade sooner, uninstall Backup and Sync and so follow the steps in a higher place to fix upwards Google Bulldoze for desktop.

Select a different upload size

You can alter the upload size for photos and videos backed upward to Google Photos from your computer.

Important: You can't change the upload size for files synced with Google Bulldoze.

Back up your Apple tree Photo Library (Mac only)

If your computer runs macOS, you lot can back up your System Photo Library to Google Photos.

Tips:

  • If you have more one Apple Photos Library, only the Arrangement Photograph Library will exist backed upward. You tin can utilize Apple Photos to change the Arrangement Photograph Library.
  • If your Apple Photo Library is synced with iCloud, all photos and videos in your library and cloud will be backed upwards to Google Photos on macOS 10.15 and above.

Upload items to Google Photos from your browser

  1. On your reckoner, open photos.google.com.
  2. At the top right, click Upload and thenEstimator.
  3. Detect and select your photos.
  4. Click Open.

Yous can also elevate photos from your computer to the album to upload them to Google Photos. If y'all drag a photograph to a specific anthology, the photograph will be uploaded to that album.

In Google Photos, you tin view how you uploaded your photos and videos.
